Eildon Houseboat Licence Categories Explained
GMW categorizes houseboats by their dimensions and the number of enclosed levels (an “enclosed level” is anywhere with 3 or 4 solid walls).
Dimensions include everything from the front deck to the rear duckboard and motors:

Based on the Goulburn-Murray Water terms and conditions for Lake Eildon, houseboats are divided into 7 categories primarily defined by their maximum dimensions (length x width) and the number of enclosed levels. An area is considered an “enclosed level” if three or four of its sides are built from solid materials like aluminium, glass, or Perspex.

Note from GMW:
Houseboat dimensions are inclusive of all structural components, which includes walkways, duckboards, ski platforms, handrails, bumpers/buffers, eaves & motors. Any part of the vessel that protrudes outside of the maximum allowable category dimension must fold or retract within the allowable category dimensions.
